The Blub is a small, rabbit-like neutral mob documented in Mielon's The Sift community mod. It is one of the reasons the phrase “Blub Minecraft” is appearing in searches. This page is about that mod only, not a confirmed vanilla mob, and it is not the official vanilla release.
What the Blub does in the mod
Mielon's project page says Blubs commonly appear in overgrown biomes. They are attracted to players holding Soul Blocks, and a Soul Block has a one-in-three chance to tame one. A tamed Blub can follow, sit, and defend its owner. The author also notes that its ears droop as it loses health.
Is Blub in official Minecraft yet?
The official announcement confirms that The Sift will appear in Minecraft Dungeons II and is planned for Java and Bedrock in 2027. It does not name Blub as a vanilla mob or publish its behavior. Keep this page labeled as Mielon-mod information until an official source says otherwise.
